Digital Radiography
Digital x-rays are the newest technology used in dentistry to take and archive dental x-rays. Digital x-rays significantly reduce the amount of radiation exposure, as compared to traditional dental x-rays. This technique captures a digital picture of your teeth and their supporting bone structures and stores the images on our office’s secure computer system. You and Dr. Greico will be able to instantly view and enlarge your x-rays to aid in the identification of dental problems and to gauge your overall dental health. Dr. Greico will then use this information to create an individualized treatment plan for you.
Intra-Oral Camera
Taking pictures of the teeth and supporting tissue with a small video camera about the size of a pen is a wonderful addition to dentistry today. The intra-oral camera creates digital images that can be stored on a computer at Dental Essence. The images are shared with our patients so they can join with us in the “co-diagnosis” of problems with their dental health. We can show you how others view your smile and which fillings are broken or discolored. We look forward to showing you a dental tour of your mouth in the privacy of your treatment room.
Panoramic Radiography
Digital panoramic x-rays provide a broad overview of the entire mouth. These X-rays supply information about the teeth, upper and lower jawbone, sinuses, and other hard and soft tissues of the head and neck. Here at Dental Essence, we use the Planmeca ProMax 2D S3 radiograph system. It is truly state-of-the-art, continuously updated, extremely easy to use, and emits virtually no harmful radiation, meaning that dental x-rays can now be safer than ever before. It is very comfortable, especially for patients with sensitive gag reflexes, and its robotic arm automatically moves to accommodate patients of all ages.
Over-the-Chair Television
To further our relaxing and care-free environment for our patients, there is a television screen above each chair equipped with cable, so you are able to watch your favorite program, sporting event, or even your own DVD while your smile is being perfected. This is especially good for anxious patients and children, as it provides a distraction and also a bit of entertainment in your busy day. The television screens can also be used to display your x-rays or treatment plan, so you can take a front seat in your dental treatment experience.
Diode Dental Laser
Rarely does a clinical tool emerge with so many possibilities for treatment as the dental diode laser. These lasers are ideal for procedures involving cutting or contouring soft tissue, which is why dental diode lasers are also known as soft tissue lasers. Diode lasers are capable of creating precision cuts in gums and other soft tissues while also eliminating bleeding at the site and reducing your healing time. Soft tissue lasers are also ideal for scaling around the gumline, sterilizing endodontic canals, treating periodontal disease, and tooth whitening. Our dental diode lasers are portable and easy to use with simple, touchscreen controls, providing you with comfort and guaranteed speed and reliability.
Cavitron
A cavitron is a dental tool that uses high frequency sound waves to clean teeth. These high frequency sound waves vibrate built up tartar and stain off of the surface of your teeth, and water then flushes away any excess bacteria, plaque, and other biofilms. It is a useful tool for getting your smile back to normal quicker and more comfortably than traditional hand tools.
Dentrix Dental Software
Dentrix was the first dental practice management software when it was launched in 1989. Since then, it has continued to expand and upgrade its features to encompass every aspect of patient care management. From helping us book your appointments, to keeping your treatment plan on track, to securely storing your dental history, Dentrix, in addition to computers in every room, is the main reason Dental Essence was able to go paperless and streamline our quality service to our patients.
DIAGNOdent Cavity Detector
DIAGNOdent aids in the detection of cavities (or caries). Even very small lesions and incipient caries can be detected, enabling us to better protect and preserve your teeth. The accuracy of diagnosing “hidden” cavities can sometimes be a challenge. Proven to be over 90% accurate in cavity detection, Your visual and radiographic evaluation can be significantly more accurate with the use of KaVo’s DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection aid. This means that cavities can be treated at their earliest stages to prevent more extreme tooth decay.
State-of-the-Art Sterilizing System
Here at Dental Essence, we make your health and safety a primary concern. This means that we go through great lengths to ensure that every instrument that enters your mouth is sterile and bacteria-free. To do this, we use an ultrasonic maxizyme bath to vibrate any dental materials off of the instruments. They are then scrubbed, individually bagged and placed in an autoclave or Statim, which is proven to kill off all bacteria using hot, pressurized steam. The bags are opened chairside, eliminating the potential spread of disease or bacteria from patient to patient.
